You definetly got what it takes to make music like X9. Reallyliked ther sound of this :D
Wish the ynths were a tiny bit louder at their peak to make the buildup more epic. You should really try making a full length track with this style :).

Ps. Subtracted a star mainly because it's too short to give 5 stars.

Thanks for the review! I'll keep that in mind! :)

Another pretty good track :D. Nice melody :). The saw bass at 0:16 is a bit plain. Maybe layer it with a sine wave to give it a bit more bassy feeling.
The melodies are absolutely terrific in this. Had me bopping my head all the way through. Some minor mixing issues, but great structure, and some really great ideas in this. I've reviewed quite a few of your tracks, and you definetly deserve a follow for this one :D.
5 stars.

Thanks man!
I'm really glad you enjoy my tracks and thanks for following :3

Retro!!! I've missed that sound for a while XD. Really liked the sounding of this. The mix sounds pretty tight most of the time, and the melody is cool though it sounds a bit stale. Try varying the length of the notes a bit in your melodies.
I really liked the synths you used, though the bass you use throughout the track isn't really optimally mixed in the track. Try to give it it's own space in the Eq by lowering or cutting the frequencies where the bass stands the most out from the pads in particular. I would also have added a tiny winy bit of reverb to it, just to give it a bit of a spacey feeling, but that's just about preferences.

When I said that the mix sounds tight almost all the time, the exception is when the crash and sweeps hits like the one around 1:30. The entire track ducks under it and makes it sound unprofessional. Try cutting some of the lowest frequencies from your crash(maybe cut around 100hz?). You want to keep the big impact sound of the crash, but still cut the frequencies that makes the mix sound muddy. Just remember: Eq EVERYTHING. The only time you don't want to eq is when you think an effect sounds perfect as it is.

Overall a pretty solid track. Loved the retro feel of it, and some really clever ideas in this :D.
4 stars.

Ok I will remember about that in the future(or at least I'll try to)
Thanks for the good advices

Knew from the first note that I was going to love this one and I absolutely did :). Great melodies, great structure, and great sounding synths :D. My only complaint is that the strings that comes in at 0:15 have some clashing frequencies with the piano. Almost sounds it's ducking under the piano if you know what I mean. Maybe try cutting some of the lower frequencies from the strings and slightly boost the higher ones?

There's also a problem with the eq-ing with the kick that comes in at around 1:10. Doesn't really sound eq'ed at all really. Too many high frequencies that doesn't only clash with the other synths, but that kind of kick doesn't really sound to good in headphones with too many high frequencies.

I can also here some clipping at the loudest parts of the track. Make sure you level the track so that the volume doesn't go over 0db. Leveling really makes or breaks a track like this.

To sum it up, I would say that the main problem with this track is the mixing really, especially the eq-ing, but also the leveling. I would advise to look into eq'ing a bit more, and also make sure that you are aware of your volume levels while producing a track.

Everything else in the track was absolutly fanstastic though :).

Dylnmatrix responds:

Yeah, this song was a bit of a problem child in the mix/master. I'm going to be going back into it and touch it up, especially before releasing the EP, so hopefully I can fix the mixing issues. I'll also keep in mind the EQ issues you mentioned. The kick is EQed to have both the low and high ends boosted a bit, but I think I forgot to bring those back down when mastering, as the kicks sound great without Ozone on. I'm still getting the hang of the whole mastering thing and tend to miss things, especially when we don't send it to other producers to get fresh ears hearing it and telling us which direction to go, which we remembered to do for our newest track, Unsustainable.

But other than that, I'm glad you liked the track! I'm extremely proud with this melody and progression, as it came on a whim and I kept the original version I wrote, not changing it at all throughout the time we worked on the project.

Thanks for the review, man!

A bit hard to review this, but I quite liked your narration. If I were to be picky I would say that there some background wind-ish noise in the recording, probably because of the mic :).
Just felt like I had to critisize something X3.
Anyway, you got a pretty good narrative voice, and I quite enjoyed listening to you :).

Coop responds:

I've not got a filter over the mic, nor even a stand. Perhaps sometime I will get these things and make a comeback, but not quite yet.

This is pretty rad actually :). Loved the synths you used and the mixing is spot on. A bit too short though. You could have made this into a really good full track. Understand that you can't because you only have the Demo version of Fl though, used to have the same problem as well ;(. You should really consider buying the full version :).
Btw, I think this would sound really nice with an ambient pad or something like that over the synths you already have. Would make it more atmospheric and epic sounding :).
Love the melody, and liked the story XD.

I definitely plan on adding a lot to this song when I get the full version of FL. I had up to 1:30 on this track, but I didn't upload it because it was unfinished and it made no sense where it was. I'm really glad you liked it. I'm hoping to buy FL 11 one of these days so I can actually put some serious work into one song. I'll definitely try a pad or two out when I come back to this one. Thanks for the review! :D

The 23 seconds that you have here sound pretty awesome, but o\it doesn't really work as a standalone loop. Really sounds like an awesome builldup, and I must say that I was a bit disappointed to find out that the track is only 23 seconds long. You should really try develop this further and make it into a full song.
I also found the snare sample to be a bit too flat. Maybe add some reverb or delay to it?.
This sounds really good, but could really use some more :).

ADR3-N responds:

The snare actually wasn't a sample, but I hear what you're saying. Perhaps I need to revisit that preset and mess around with the oscillators a little. Thanks for the review!

Awesome work poinl!! Just pure genius really :D:
Loved the way you opened the song that pan flute sounds incredibly soothing to the ears, and loved that melody. When you start building up the song I understood that something awesome coming. Really good use of vocal cuts. the transition at 0:30 was almost perfect :).
The part at 0:55 got me to groove in my chear XD. Absolutely loved the melody. One of the sweetest things I've heard :).
You're a pure genius when it comes to keeping the listeners attention. The part at 2:11 was absolutely crazy good! I was thinking that you would probably repeat the parts all over again, but you really surprised me with that one. The way you brought the main part back in again at 2:37 was just awesome :).

Onlycomplain I really can come with is that I feel like the kick could use a few higher frequencies just to make it a bit more punchier. That's barely noticeable though X3.ยจ

Overall a great track, which definetly deserves 5 stars and a follow :)

And thanks for the in-depth review!

Interesting piece this Arsonist. Loved the beginnings, was really nice and powerful and really nice synths and melodies here. Only problem is that I kinda expected the song to build up from the intro into something more energetic. I really liked how you progressed the song throughout the track, but I felt like it lacked that one "wow" moment, as the energy levels were pretty much the same throughout the track. Try looking into some 8bit music, or take a listen to some of Envy's stuff on here. Great example on how to build up and 8bit song and making sure to vary the energy levels.

Overall still a pretty cool track though. Really liked melodies you used, especially the one at 0:30. Maybe lacking a heavy bass, but is still punchy enough for me to groove to it :). The title really fits the atmosphere and feeling of the song, so good job on getting that down right :D.

Keep up the good work :D.

I definitely need to work on using the buildup to my advantage and give it a bassy feel. I'm glad you liked the melodies I used. I've accepted the reality that the melodic quality of my songs can easily be outweighed by the lack of mastering and sample quality, so it's nice when someone enjoys it. Glad you liked the song, thanks for the review! :D

Interesting progressions and arrangement. Must say that I really disliked the sound of the guitar, and that kinda ruined it for me. Distortion only sound good when recorded if the recording equipment is good, and the equipment used in this, don't know if you connected an amp directly to your soundcard or what, wasn't really good enough to make the effect sound good.
I would also advice you to try and switch it up a bit more and maybe build the song up as it progresses?
Just some ideas :).

by "interesting" im sure the better word would have been poor? yeah i connected the mustang amp straight to audacity, I know i'm scum, i am trying to get it to work with Adobe Audition but i dont know how to use it yet. But i plan to remaster them sometime in the near future because i really really dislike Audacity. But thanks :D
